Historical society remembers Linda and Sheila

To the Editor:

“Remembering Linda and Sheila.” Two women with spark, humor, and dedication to their community: Linda Stevens Carman left us on April 22, 2018; Sheila C. Stempel passed on Dec. 29, 2018.

The Berne Historical Society is paying tribute to these two long-time members on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Senior Community Center at 1360 Helderberg Trail in Berne.

Both women would jokingly refer to the group as the “Berne Hysterical Society” when talking about the 49-year-old organization. They worked side by side, preparing the museum for its opening every May and enjoyed every minute of it.

Linda had a penchant for getting projects up and running. Sheila wrote the biannual newsletters like forever. Sheila and Linda also put together many displays for the Altamont Fair over the years. Just a snippet of all that they have done.

“Remembering Linda and Sheila.” Please join us to pay tribute to these two amazing women.
