God brings us together

To the Editor:

This was our second Veterans Breakfast at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont. We were glad that not only did the veterans, family, and friends from the town came out to support us but this year we saw people from the surrounding towns joining us too.

Not only did we get to serve the veterans an affordable meal, we were able to shake their hands, listen to their stories, and share fellowship with them in a place of worship reminds us that God brings us together in many different ways.

We are already looking forward to serving our veterans next year and are inspired to do other events to bring St. John’s closer to the community. A special thanks to: Indian Ladder Farms for its kind donation of apples that were served, BJ’s Wholesale Club of Albany for its donation of a gift card to help buy supplies, and the Thrivent Action Team for sponsoring us.

Most of all, a special thanks to the people of Altamont who came out to joins us. Without you, the breakfast wouldn’t have been the success it was. St. John’s Lutheran Church and The American Legion Helderberg Post 977 of Altamont thank you for all your kind and generous donations.
