Altamont church sponsors trip to Riviera

ALTAMONT — St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church in Altamont is sponsoring a trip departing from Albany to Provence and the French Riviera, also known as the Cote d’Azur, meaning coast.

The tour, escorted by local travel expert Jean Gagnon, will depart from Albany on April 15 and return on April 25, 2020. Space is limited to 40 participants.

The trip is a leisurely, yet sight-packed visit to the southern region of France and will include visits to artist villages and places like Monte Carlo and Cannes.

Spending three nights in the City of Popes, Avignon, the group will move on to Aix-en-Provence for a two-night stay, before concluding with four nights in seafront Nice. Average temperature is a high of 65 and a low of 50.

Including all flights, transportation from Albany to Newark, nine nights in four-star hotels, breakfast daily, four dinners including wine, two wine tastings, one local food products tasting, all included sightseeing, and an early booking discount of $200, the rate starts at $4,275 per person, double occupancy, if registered by Nov. 22, 2020.

An informational meeting will be held at Plaza Travel Center, 623 New Loudon Rd, Latham, on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.  Email or call Jean Gagnon at or at Plaza Travel Center 518-785-3338 if you plan on attending the informational session.

Although sponsored by the church, these tours are not “pilgrimages” or “religious” events.  All are welcome to participate.
