ALTAMONT — Clinda “Cindy” Ann (née Wellisch) Pollard died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. She was 89. 

“In her early years, Cindy was a teacher’s assistant at Altamont Elementary School,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She was a huge advocate for children with disabilities and helped start the Wildwood School.

“Cindy loved the Altamont Fair and was a director for many years. Cindy and her good friend Midge Peterson ran the Farm Museum. 

“She had several business ventures in the village of Altamont including The Village Mart, Cindy's Country Kitchen, and The Home Front Cafe.”

She is survived by her three sons, John IV, Eric (Carol), Marc (Wendy); her seven grandchildren, Nichole, Samantha, Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Evan, and Emily; and her three great-grandchildren, Kaelan, Anthea, and Chloe.

Her husband of 65 years, John III “Jack” Pollard, died before her. 

Friends and family are invited to an open house memorial gathering where food and refreshments will be served. Please join us on Saturday, Nov. 23, between 11 a.m and 2:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 977 at 988 Altamont Blvd. in Altamont.
