Thanks to Pokorny, Knox is eligible for $130K grant

To the Editor:

I’ve lived in Knox for 30 years and I’ve never seen as much division and rancor as in the last two years.       In the past, I was always proud of the fact that, despite differences, people “on the Hill” were able to get along. The common thread was the shared love for this beautiful rural area that we are proud to call home.

I know that writing a letter to The Enterprise certainly will not sway those so deeply entrenched in their opinions, but I do hope to I might be able to encourage some of you who might otherwise “sit this one out” to go exercise your right to vote.

We desperately need to restore civility to the process of town government. We also need a clear and focused vision for the future of the town.

We have a great opportunity to do that with Amy Pokorny as our next town supervisor. Amy has proven herself to be a valuable and active member of the community and positive force in town government for many years. Being a past member of the zoning board of appeals and member of the town council, she has a solid understanding about how to make government work for the community.

Amy is a forward thinker who is looking for new and innovative ways to raise the quality of life in our community. For example, she has taken the initiative to be a coordinator for the New York State Climate Smart Communities grant program in our town.

Knox is now eligible for a $130,000 through this grant. Green energy initiatives are not only good for the environment, they can and will in the future save money too!

So this Nov. 7, let’s get the town of Knox moving forward, together.
