No-sew ‘fun’-raiser to make blankets for homeless and hurricane victims

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland Library is hosting a “no-sew blanket fun-raiser,” led by long-time Guilderland resident Katy Noakes, for making fleece blankets to benefit homeless people in Albany as well as victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The event will be held Monday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Participants are asked to bring scissors and, if possible, two yards of fleece. It is not necessary to bring fleece, as Noakes will have plenty of extra on hand.

There is no sewing involved, and no experience is necessary.

Instructions will be provided, as will complimentary refreshments and a chance at a gift-basket raffle.

Anyone wishing to attend may register on the Guilderland Public Library website, guilderlandlibrary.org, or by emailing Noakes at . Registration is required by Nov. 7.

This adult program is limited to 25 participants, but if more than that register, Noakes will arrange for a second event.

The event is sponsored by HUGS USA, Generations Planning Group LLC, Up-Stitch, Integrated Staffing Corp., and the Guilderland Library Foundation.
