The choice: Stagnation under Pokorny, progress with Lefkaditis

To the Editor:

Pokorny will fiddle while Knox burns.

Once again, Knox is presented with a stark contrast between progress and stagnation. Once again, the usual suspects have been rolled out to sling mud, hoping that it somehow sticks.

The recent inference by Ms. [Amy] Pokorny’s minion, Mr. [Eric] Kuck, that Mr. [Vasilios] Lefkaditis is somehow shady and dishonest is the currency of cowards. If there is any concrete evidence of wrongdoing, then by all means Mr. Kuck should bring it forward.  If not, then he should simply fade back into the woodwork from whence he came.

In times past, duels were fought over far less than such a politically driven allegation against an innocent man. Pathetic.

Ms. Pokorny has no platform and no plan. Her supporters cite her ownership of the Octagon Barn and her marching in Memorial Day parades as proof that she is qualified to be the next town supervisor. Really?  Is that the benchmark for leadership in Knox?

On the record, Ms. Pokorny has done everything she could to strangle the business “baby” in the cradle in Knox … Why? Because any kind of genuine progress in Knox is anathema to her and her backwards supporters.

Ms. Pokorny has used every kind of political ploy to thwart the town from moving forward ... all in the name of maintaining the “rural character” of Knox, as she likes to say.

Why have the town park, the transfer station, and the town garage all been allowed to fall into the level of neglect and disrepair that they are currently in? Probably to maintain the “rural character” of Knox.

Why are there so many eyesore properties that have been left derelict by their owners? Probably to maintain the “rural character of Knox.

Knox needs an effective, fiscally savvy supervisor to lead us to a responsible, progressive future — not one of the greatest minds of the 18th Century.

The choice is readily apparent — stagnation and decay under Pokorny — or progress and fiscal responsibility under Lefkaditis, and the team of Pritchard, Saddlemire, Schanz, Francis, and Salisbury.

Editor’s note: In response to the statement “Ms. Pokorny has no platform and no plan,” Amy Pokorny said, “If people want to read about my platform and ideas on solving the issues we face in town, they can read my website (www.AmyForKnoxSupervisor.com).” Her campaign website, among other things, outlines problems and corresponding solutions in the areas of finance; rural character; economy; services; culture, arts, science; waste management; energy; environment; and public participation in local government.
