The Bronk Farmstead in Coxsackie was built in 1663 and was occupied by seven generations of Pieter Bronck’s descendents.

To the Editor:

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., Shelby Mattice, curator of the Bronck Museum, will present the story of the Bronck family and farmstead. The Bronck house was built in Coxsackie in 1663 and is one of the oldest in our area.

The Bronck family has a long and interesting history. The family dwelling was occupied by seven generations of Pieter Bronck’s descendents. The program will include family, architectural, and social history.

Shelby has been affiliated with the Bronck Museum since 1972. She has designed and installed a variety of special exhibits at the Bronck Museum. She is an active researcher and has a special interest in the social history of the 17th to mid-19th centuries.

Our program is held at the Clarksville Community Church at 1997 Delaware Turnpike in Clarksville. The public is encouraged to join us,  refreshments are served following the program.
