Three kind, talented candidates are ready to serve our community
To the Editor:
The Knox Democratic committee is proudly supporting three candidates for town government in the November election. They include Chasity McGivern for supervisor, Justin Zimmer for town council, and Josh Gebe for highway superintendent. All three candidates possess strong skill sets and a desire to serve their community.
Chasity McGivern has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Russell Sage College. She also has certificates in Accounting Principles, Paralegal Studies, and as a School Business Official. Chasity has 20 years of experience in local real-estate sales, and has volunteered with the Helderberg Ambulance as an emergency medical technician, with the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Little League, Albany County Senior Meal Program, and as a school board member at BKW.
Justin Zimmer’s family history extends back for several generations across the Schoharie Valley and the Helderbergs where he grew up helping his family and neighbors with various farming and construction projects. He developed an early interest in engineering, applying it in assisting others.
Throughout his career in electrical construction, engineering construction administration, and currently as a construction manager, Justin has enjoyed working through problems as a team member. Debating and brainstorming problems and solutions is a passion of his. Justin has served for a few years on the Board of Assessment Review in Knox and is currently the chairman.
Josh Gebe shared, “I am running for highway superintendent because I believe in service — service to our town, to our families, and to the roads that connect us all.” Josh has worked for years at the Berne Highway Department. His experience includes operating and repairing heavy equipment, managing road construction, supervising crews, and handling detailed reporting and dispatch operations. Josh has also run a trucking business, negotiated costs and purchases, and built strong relationships with surrounding town and county highway departments.
Three kind, talented candidates are ready to serve our community! Remember to vote!
