Sergeant Mance helps kids through Choices program
To the Editor:
I am proud to say I have volunteered with the Choices program on Gun Club Road in Altamont for several years. The past four years, the program has been under the direction of First Sergeant Tracy Mance of Albany County Sheriff Stop DWI.
Sergeant Mance is a great asset to this very important program and it’s great working with her. Just since Sergeant Mance has been in charge, over 6,000 students from local schools have attended the program.
Choices touches on the many issues that confront our youth today and Sergeant Mance keeps the program current and viable to deal with all the things going on around us; drinking and driving, distracted driving, drug use, bullying and issues that come to the forefront in today’s society.
The responses from the students confirm the importance of the program and that they are getting the message.
In closing, I want to congratulate Sergeant Mance on the award she received on Tuesday, Oct. 22. First Sergeant Mance was presented with the Ray Thorpe Award by the New York State Association of Traffic Safety Boards for her work with the Choices program.
