Laurel Bohl will challenge the status quo

To the Editor:

Do you live in Guilderland?

Worried that special-use permits and variances will change the complexion of your single-family neighborhood? Would you like some assurance that your neighborhood will remain a single-family neighborhood?

Ever wondered “Who dreamt up that traffic study?” Do you agree the developers should pay for an independent traffic study? Do you agree with the Albany County Planning Board that Guilderland has a traffic problem? Maybe a project should be denied?

With 23 new development projects in the pipeline, are you concerned about our environment? Don’t like clear-cutting of trees? Want an environmentalist on our planning board?

Are you looking for Smart Growth instead of wild, wild west growth? Growth that is responsible and reasonable? Ever wondered how that variance ever got through? Is anyone enforcing our comprehensive plan?

Would you like to know why each of the members of our town, planning, and zoning boards voted the way they did on an issue before them? That would be nice, wouldn’t it? Having trouble finding information on the town website about a project? Could it all be more transparent?

I, too, have wondered about all of these issues and I’m concerned, just as much as you are. Our residents need an advocate on our town board, someone who is willing to take the time and energy to ask questions and challenge the status quo — some fresh ideas, some fresh air.

She’s a strong advocate for the residents of this town. She’s a fresh voice! That’s why I’m voting for Laurel Bohl for town board on Nov. 5. Care to join me? See you on Election Day!

Here’s to Guilderland!

Gordon McClelland
