Join us in saluting Westerlo’s heroes
To the Editor:
The Westerlo Hometown Heroes Banner Committee will be hosting its Second Annual Closing Ceremony, this Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Westerlo.
The Westerlo Hometown Heroes Closing Ceremony concludes the 2019 program during which 45 new local veterans and 16 veterans with previously-displayed banners were honored with individual banners throughout the town.
The ceremony will recognize this year’s veterans for their bravery and sacrifice in service to our country. Veterans and/or their family members will formally be presented with their banners.
The event will also include: Presentation of colors by the Civil Air Patrol; The Pledge of Allegiance by local Boy Scouts; singing of the national anthem by a local fourth-grade student, Brody Shaver; and playing of Taps by local Boy Scout, Keegan Bailey.
Our guest speaker will be Ken Secor, director of the Veterans Service Bureau of Albany County. The program will also include remarks by Dan McCoy, Albany County executive, and Assemblyman Chris Tague.
Those is attendance will also be offered a complimentary buffet.
We invite the community to join us in saluting Westerlo’s heroes, past and present, at this event.
