Boy Scouts to hold food drive

To the Editor:
On Saturday, Nov. 5, Altamont’s Boy Scout Troop 264 will hold its annual food drive and bottle collection. Food donations will be used to stock the shelves of the Altamont Community Food Pantry. And bottles and cans will be redeemed to help support Troop 264 activities.

Food items and returnable bottles and cans can be dropped off at the parking lot of St. Lucy-St. Bernadette’s parish center at 122 Grand Street.

The food drive and bottle collection will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Scouts will meet you at the curbside to collect donated items. All nonperishable and unexpired food items are greatly appreciated.

Some examples of items needed for the food pantry: canned vegetables and fruit, tuna, macaroni and cheese, pasta, soup, peanut butter, jelly, rice, beans, sauces, oatmeal, cereal, raisins, baking mixes, spices, salt, sugar, juice, dry milk, infant formula, baby food, diapers, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and tissues.

Please help support those in need in the Altamont community and the local Boy Scout troop.
