Notice is hereby given that the Fiscal Affairs of the Town of Rensselaerville for the period beginning on January 1, 2015 and ending on May 31, 2016 have been examined by the Office of the State Comptroller and that the Report of Examination prepared by the Office of the State Comptroller has been filed in my office where it is available as a public record for inspection by all interested persons. Pursuant to Section Thirty-Five of the General Municipal Law, the Governing Board of the Town of Rensselaerville may, in its discretion, prepare a written response to the Report of Examination prepared by the State Comptroller and file any such response in my office as a public record for inspection by all interested persons not later than January 11, 2017.

LEGAL NOTICE

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Rensselaerville has introduced proposed Local Law No. 4 of 2016 entitled, “A Local Law Overriding the Real Property Tax Levy Limit for Fiscal Year 2017”.  

The Town Board will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed law on October 25, 2016 at 6:45 PM at the Town of Rensselaerville Town Hall, 87 Barger Road, Medusa, NY, at which time and place all those wishing to comment will be provided with the full opportunity to be heard.  Communications in writing in relation thereto may be filed with the Town Clerk’s Office or at such hearing.  A copy of the proposed local law is available for inspection in the Town Clerk’s Office or may be viewed online at www.rensselaerville.com.

The text of the proposed local law is as follows: 

BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Rensselaerville as follows:

Section 1. Legislative Authority: Chapter 97 of the Laws of 2011 of New York State, incorporated in §3-c of the General Municipal Law, established a ‘tax cap’ that generally limits the amount of a municipality’s real property tax levy for the upcoming fiscal year according to a formula set out in the statute, but the statute also authorizes local governments, pursuant to General Municipal Law §3-c(5), to override the tax levy limit for the upcoming fiscal year.

Section 2. Override of Tax Levy Limit for Fiscal Year 2017:  The real property tax levy limit set out in §3-c of the General Municipal Law is overridden, pursuant to New York General Municipal Law §3-c(5), for Fiscal Year 2017, and the Town may adopt a budget for Fiscal Year 2017 that incorporates a real property tax increase in excess of the otherwise applicable tax levy limit.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING

The Albany County Dept. of Public Works (County) has announced that a public information meeting will be held to discuss the proposed rehabilitation of the CR 9 Bridge over Fox Creek in the Town of Berne. The meeting will be held at Berne Fire House, 30 Canaday Hill Road, Berne, NY 12023 on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 6:00 PM The County, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is developing design studies for the proposed bridge rehabilitation and is seeking comments from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies. The County is specifically soliciting comments on the development of alternates for the project and comments on the project’s social, economic and environmental effects. This public informational meeting is part of the continuing efforts by the County, the NYSDOT and the FHWA to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.

Please advise the County if a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or any other accommodation will be required to facilitate your participation in this public meeting. The contact person is Mr. Darrell Duncan, Commissioner, Albany County DPW, whose phone number is (518) 765-2055.

The Town of Westerlo Town Board will hold a Special Town Board meeting on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 6:50 PM at the Westerlo Town Hall 933 County Route 401, Westerlo, NY for the purpose of moving from the 2017 Town of Westerlo Tentative Budget to the 2017 Town of Westerlo Preliminary Budget. A copy of the 2017 Preliminary Budget will be available for public review at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours and on the Town of Westerlo’s website www.townofwesterlony.com
