The skills I gained as Knox clerk will make me an effective supervisor
To the Editor:
My name is Traci Delaney, and I am honored to be a candidate for the position of supervisor for the town of Knox. I currently serve as town clerk. I have had the privilege of meeting many residents as they come into the town hall, to assist with a multitude of tasks, questions, and needs as they navigate through the many different situations they are presented with.
I have been a Knox resident my entire life, but my journey of holding an elected position began eight years ago when I was first elected as town clerk. I have always been passionate about our town, and its mission to remain a small, tight-knit community while adjusting to the worldly changes around us. Over the years, I have been actively involved in a variety of town projects, assisting with our playground, parks, Pucker Street Fair, and Hometown Heroes Committee, which have deepened my understanding and commitment to our community.
As town clerk, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of policy and procedure, as well as the ability to communicate, learn, and grow with our town. I have shared experiences with residents, volunteers, and elected officials, and these conversations and collaborations have strengthened my knowledge and appreciation of what makes our community successful. These experiences have also equipped me with the skills needed to contribute effectively as town supervisor.
I believe I am known for my integrity, teamwork, accountability, and dedication to doing the right thing, even if it is not the most popular decision. I am committed to bringing these values to the role of supervisor. My approach is always to listen first, ask questions, gain knowledge, be accountable, and never be afraid to say, “I don’t know, but I will find an answer,” which I believe is essential for fostering a communicative, collaborative, and an inclusive environment.
If elected, my primary goals are to offer more community-based gatherings to bring our town residents closer together, to strengthen our town relationships with our surrounding communities, to work with a balanced budget that relates to the needs of the entire town and the town’s long-term financial stability. I believe that by focusing on these areas, we can achieve significant progress and continue to grow as a community.
Thank you for considering my candidacy for Knox town supervisor. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve the town of Knox. I look forward to continuing to contribute my skills and passion to the success of our town. I appreciate your support.
