Adam, Dan, and Doug know the best way forward for New Scotland

To the Editor:

I will vote for the vision and hard work of Adam, Dan, and Doug.

If you live in the town of New Scotland — as I am very happy to — then you will support Adam Greenberg and Dan Leinung (alongside Supervisor Doug LaGrange) in the upcoming town board elections to encourage more of their kind of vision and hard work.

These three have accomplished much for our communities. Here are some examples:

— In February, the Open Space Plan was finalized and published. You can download it from the town’s website. It aims at preserving natural resources and our countryside landscapes while it balances the need for development and growth. The plan protects our hamlets from being overrun by commercial sprawl and vast concrete parking lots;

— At the same time, the town’s planners developed the Natural Resources Inventory with the team’s guidance. The interactive NRI helps those who are curious become better informed about what is at stake with business development and growth. It can help each of us become better citizens in public debate; and

— Third, the Hilton barn has begun hosting live entertainment and will soon be a destination for many from around the Capital Region. You can easily foresee it hosting events like the annual ukulele rendezvous held each May at the Old Songs Community Arts Center in Voorheesville. Public parking gets packed full that Saturday in the village center, but moving it to the barn (with a food truck) would be splendid.

I can go on. Adam, Dan, and Doug always answer text messages, emails, phone calls, and other requests for meetings and information. They have patiently and effectively explained much to me and my neighbors about municipal government and what is happening throughout our region.

I wish more of our elected officials were like them. This is the way forward. Join me in voting for Doug LaGrange, Adam Greenberg, and Dan Leinung.
