Robert R. Wiedman
BERNE – Robert R. Wiedman, a Korean War veteran who was married for 58 years, died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at his lakeside home. He was 87.
Mr. Wiedman was born in Queens to the late William and Emma Parkinson Wiedman on Dec. 23, 1930. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as an airplane radio technician.
After he was was discharged, he went on to own several gas stations before joining his family’s business, Wiedman Wire in Brooklyn, where he worked for over a decade.
Mr. Wiedman was married Marie Cecile Wiedman for 58 years. They had five children and seven grandchildren.
In the 1980s, Mr. Wiedman retired and moved to Berne, living on the lake. He became a machinist and woodcarver, and enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles.

Mr. Wiedman is survived by his wife, Marie Cecile Wiedman; his children, Raymond Wiedman of Berne; Doreen of Delmar; Wendy Philby of Berne; Linda and Patrick Gargiul of Auburn; and Mark Wiedman of Berne; his seven grandchildren; his siblings, Wesley Wiedman of Mineola; Sandy Roth of East Islip; Brenda Molloy of Flushing; and Joyce Tursi of Albertson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother, Wayne Wiedman, died before him.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State 81, Greenville. The family will continue to receive visitors at the funeral home until 12:30 p.m. A burial with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
