Vote for the qualified candidate, not just the party line
To the Editor:
This election feels like a tornado, spitting out candidates who are not known or qualified. Who supports who, what party are the candidates, who’s involved in front of and behind the scenes? This election has gotten out of control and people are losing sight of what really matters. The town matters and its residents matter!
People are not being truthful; they are grabbing just any person and asking them to run just to win a side, but most of them are not even qualified to hold the position.
Codes are being broken with the banners that are being put up in the town. Violating your own code is not a good start.
Also where is all this money coming from for the Democratic party? Are financials being filed? When I was considering running for town clerk a third time, the Democratic party asked me to “denounce the Republicans!” Now the lines are so blurred, further trying to fool the people.
Does anyone understand the importance and duties that elected officials have? Two people came to my house to campaign, Jim Kaufman and Don Lee. I do not know them and after listening to them, I am confident that they are not capable of the job.
Those were the only two candidates who have managed to come up my driveway. Mr. Kaufman did not state any of his qualifications and played with our dog and, when I questioned Mr. Lee, he told me he had never been to a board meeting but just wants everyone to get along.
Well, we all want everyone in this world to get along, but the job of the board is to keep town business moving forward and keep the town safe and its buildings and property secure and create a place where people want to live.
Kathy Hill-Brown is not qualified to be town clerk, nor should she be running on the fact that she was deputy town clerk …. It has been roughly nine years since she was there and many changes have taken place that are above her knowledge and capabilities for such an important position.
Please look at each individual candidate and the experience they have and do not focus on the smoke and mirrors both sides are creating. Please vote for the qualified candidate, and not just the party line.
The only candidates that stand alone on merit and experience are Town Clerk Kristin De Oliviera, Highway Superintendent Randy Bashwinger, and Stephanie Audino for tax collector.
