Feed our neighbors, support our heroes

To the Editor:
The Helderberg Family and Community Organization would like to share some important and exciting upcoming community events. All details and necessary order/sponsorship forms can be found at www.helderbergfco.com or follow us on Facebook @helderbergfco.

We are sponsoring a food drive to benefit: Hugs for the Hilltowns (Helderberg Lutheran Church); Rock Road Chapel Holiday Outreach Program (Knox); Hilltowns Community Resource Center (Westerlo); and The Little Free Food Pantries (in Berne and Knox).

Nonperishable food items may be dropped off through Oct. 28 during regular business hours at: Altamont Country Values-Agway, Berne Public Library, Fox Creek Market in Berne, Helderberg True Value in East Berne, or the Westerlo Public Library.

Monetary donations are also accepted and may be sent to HFCO, Post Office Box 115, Knox, NY, 12107 or through Venmo @HelderbergFCO. All donations will be used, in their entirety, to help feed our neighbors.

As we look forward to the holiday season, our Helderberg Heroes Project will once again be teaming up with Operation Adopt a Soldier to provide Christmas stockings for our deployed service men and women this holiday season. Visit our website for details on how to sponsor a servicemember for only $20!

And tree sponsorship is open for the Fifth Annual Hope and Peace Community Festival of Trees. Individuals, families, businesses, groups, and organizations are invited to sponsor and decorate a tree for our community display.

This beautiful display of trees will be lit from Dec. 2, 2023 to Jan. 5, 2024 behind the Knox firehouse. Join us in sponsoring and decorating a tree to honor or remember a loved one, celebrate a theme, or brighten up the season for all! Details and tree order forms are available on our website.

As mentioned, further information and forms are available on our website or please feel free to contact me at 518-925-3227. Volunteers from all communities are always welcome to any and all of our events.

We thank you for your consideration, your continued support, and your kindness.
