To the Editor:

The family of Roger Sawyer, whose life was tragically taken on Oct. 19, 2018, would like to reach out and send a special thanks to Guilderland High School Athletic Director Regan Johnson; wrestling coaches Don Favro and JP Hulslander; Guilderland Police officer Carl Duda, Roger Ginder, and fellow officers; Marcella Appliances and family along with Roger’s coworkers at Marcella’s.

We’d like to thank community members, too, for their support during our family’s most difficult time.

Editor’s note:  The family has organized a vigil to honor Roger Sawyer’s life, at the spot where he was killed, riding his bicycle. The vigil is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m., on Washington Avenue Extension at the entrance to Crossgates Commons, near McDonald’s.
