What was actually stated …

To the Editor:

At the Oct. 8, 2019 Knox Town Board meeting, Supervisor Vasilious Lefkaditis stated, several times, that Amy Pokorny had lied to the Albany County Planning Board on April 19, 2018 by saying he had an interest in the Highlands property.

What was actually stated in the minutes of that Albany County Planning Board meeting is as follows, in part: “Amy Porkony addressed the board …. She has concerns the Town Supervisor may have real estate interests.”

Again, Lefkaditis plays games with the truth. There is a difference between usage of the term “may have” versus “has.” “Has” would indicate a definite interest, whereby “may have” indicates a possible interest.

During the Sept. 10, 2019 Knox Town Board meeting, in a discussion to hold a vote on the proposed MRD [Multi-use Residential district] in the absence of the town attorney, Afzali, Councilman Earl Barcomb stated that he had spoken with Afzali and was told that he (Afzali) had no concerns with the board holding a vote in his absence. Lefkaditis countered that Afzali had advised him to hold off having a vote on that matter.

In light of the fact that Lefkaditis too often is glib when making statements from his position as town supervisor, I wonder if Afzali actually gave him that advice? I have no reason to doubt Councilman  Barcomb.

I suppose some will say “so what,” since the MRD was voted down during the Oct. 8, 2019 meeting because it failed to meet a supermajority, 4 out of 5 votes.

However, I write because truth matters!
