One of the most honest and modest men
To the Editor:
This letter is in support of Russell Pokorny for supervisor of the town of Knox. Although I live in Berne, I know Russ well enough to make a statement on his character, intelligence, and inclination, which make him an ideal person for the job.
An anecdote to illustrate how he carried out his responsibilities as Knox assessor: One day, he and I were kayaking together on a Florida river, and his mobile rang. A call from a citizen who needed help with a property assessment. Russ took the call and provided the information requested.
He never once said that he was on vacation, or too busy; he just did his job. I later learned that this happened frequently, and that one time, he was sitting on a rock, somewhere in Iceland, when a call came in!
As to his character, I believe that Russ is one of the most honest and modest men I know. He will do his best for the citizens of Knox.
