The park at the corner of Route 353 and Albany Hill Road in Rensselaerville was completely submerged during heavy rain in the Hilltowns this past weekend.

RENSSELAERVILLE — A portion of County Route 353 near the hamlet of Rensselaerville is closed as the county works to repair a pipe that was damaged in this weekend’s flooding.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy tweeted on Saturday that roads across the Hilltowns were flooded, and that Route 353 would be “closed until further notice.”

County spokeswoman Mary Rozak told The Enterprise on Monday, Oct. 9, that “new pipe is expected to arrive and be installed this week.”

Photos tweeted by McCoy showed deep water spanning large portions of road and property, along with damaged asphalt and gullies of rushing water.

According to an online weather tracker, some areas of the Hilltowns got more than three inches of rain over a three-day period.
