Ravena driver charged with manslaughter after fatal motorcycle crash

BETHLEHEM — An arrest was made this week following the July 14 crash that killed a motorcyclist.

Jacob M. Snide, 33, of Ravena, was arrested by the Bethlehem Police Department after being indicted by an Albany County Grand Jury, according to a release from the department.

Snide is charged with second-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault, both felonies, and with reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

Snide was driving south on Route 9W in Glenmont, police say, when he crossed over the center line, hitting Patrick Lafortune Jr. of Schenectady.

On Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, Snide was arraigned in Albany County Court by Judge Andra Ackerman and remanded to Albany County’s jail without bail.
