Join Neighbors Making a World of Difference

To the Editor:
The board and staff of Community Caregivers invites friends and community members to our 27th Annual Gala on Friday, Oct. 22, at the Albany Country Club. The theme for the evening is Neighbors Making a World of Difference, in honor of our dedicated volunteers as well as honorees from the Capital District Transportation Authority’s frontline transportation workers and local emergency medical services.

Community Caregivers was born in Altamont and has continued to grow for 27 years, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our community and supporters. We now serve much of Albany County and, last year, expanded into Rensselaer County when the pandemic highlighted the need for our services.

Our mission is to enable individuals of all ages to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life within their homes and communities. Many of our clients are older but we serve a number of younger people as well.

To achieve our mission, Community Caregivers recruits volunteers who, after an orientation session and background check, provide services such as grocery shopping, rides to medical appointments, delivery of prescriptions and supplies, light housekeeping and chores, friendly home visits and phone calls, and respite care.

Last year alone, volunteers provided over 7,700 services to more than 600 individuals and families. COVID safety protocols are followed and volunteers must be fully vaccinated.

Interested in attending our gala? Want to volunteer? Or maybe you know someone who needs a little help in their home. If so, please call our office at 518-456-2898 or email us at .  We look forward to talking with you.

On behalf of our board and staff, we thank the community for supporting us and hope you will join us at our upcoming gala. Tickets are $135 apiece or a table for 10 for $1,300. Appetizers and an open bar start at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner and brief program starting at 6:45 p.m. Music will be provided by award-winning Out of the Box.

Unable to attend but want to donate? Please see our website at www.communitycaregivers.org or call our office.
