ALTAMONT — “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen M. Vivenzio, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who left us peacefully on Sept. 27, 2024, at the age of 69,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Born on July 29, 1955, to Elizabeth (née Butlin) Daguillo and the late Samuel Daguillo, she was one of six children and graduated from Guilderland High School.

“Karen lived a life full of love, devotion, and hard work,” her family wrote. “Her passions were as unique as her spirit. If she wasn’t working, you could find her in her flower gardens, carefully designing breathtaking landscapes and water features that brought nature’s beauty to life.

“She loved spending time outdoors, often mowing her lawn with pride and took great joy in caring for her cherished Chesapeake Bay retrievers, who were her loyal companions for many years.

“Karen was a natural at blending her love of gardening with the serenity of nature, creating peaceful environments where she could enjoy watching hummingbirds visit her blooms.

“For over 52 beautiful years, Karen was the devoted wife of Joseph A. Vivenzio, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a strong and caring family, and their home was a place of warmth and celebration, especially during their annual Fourth of July parties. Friends and family were always welcomed with open arms.

“She treasured every moment with her family, and her warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

“Her impact on those around her was immeasurable. Karen will forever be remembered for her compassion, strength, incredible work ethic, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

“May she rest in eternal peace.”
