St John’s

Blessing of the Animals will be held at St. John’’s Lutheran Church 140 Maple Avenue in Altamont, on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Animals are invited to join their human guardians at the informal 8:30 a.m. service where they will receive a blessing from the pastor. Some people may choose to bring photographs of their pets; others will have their pets blessed by naming them.

The theme will carry over to the traditional 11 a.m. service. The sermon theme will be, ““All God’s Creatures,” and the men’s quartet, and the St. John’’s Singers, will perform, ““A Place in the Choir,”” by Bill Staines.

The date was selected because it is the Sunday closest to the Feast of St.Francis.
