Costco fits right in

To the Editor:

I have been trying to keep up on news of upcoming growth in our area, especially more so within the town of Guilderland. There has been a lot of positive news with the new car wash on Western, the housing and apartment growth, businesses like the new Stewart’s, and other small businesses that I see popping up.

In such a challenging time, this is actually refreshing to see. You hear about businesses not making it through the pandemic and towns and counties losing tax base because of it. We simply need to keep the positivity coming.

I’ve read a lot of back and forth about the Costco that could potentially be built, and I am all for it. Just recently, I went to the mall and walked around — it is nice to see it back up and running, it’s nice to see shoppers wearing masks and it’s nice to see the support of our local shops.

The area surrounding the mall is a perfect location for a store like Costco. As we begin to see more of our economy brought back to life, this fits right in. And I am excited to see it happen.
