Man charged with DWI after crashing his motorcycle in Berne

BERNE — A Central Bridge man was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his motorcycle in Berne Saturday night, police say.

Walter M. Brown III, 19, was traveling south on Main Street in Berne when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a barrier and was thrown from his motorcycle, according to a report from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:15 p.m., and Brown was taken to Albany Medical Center for his injuries.

Police charged him with driving while intoxicated, a felony; operating without an interlock device, a misdemeanor; and several traffic violations, according to the report.

Brown was released on a ticket to appear in Berne Town Court on Oct. 30, according to the report.
