The New Scotland Historical Association is excited to announce that its museum has reopened!

The museum is located in the Wyman Osterhout Community Center on Route 85 in New Salem. Featured is its World War II exhibit.

Originally planned for 2020, the exhibit is a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the ending of World War II. The items on display are owned by the museum and come from the town of New Scotland community. They represent the service and sacrifice of the soldiers and those affected on the home front.

The museum is open on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. It is also open one half hour before the association’s monthly programs. In fact, the official opening is at 7 p.m., Oct. 5, a half-hour before the association's first program of the season, “African Americans in the Late 19th-Century Capital District,” presented by educator and actor, Donald Hyman at 7:30 p.m. This program is free and open to the public.

Although the museum has these limited hours, its exhibits and its collections are available for viewing and for research purposes by appointment. Email or contact one of the association’s officers to make arrangements.

Come to the museum soon! Our local history is rich with heroism and the dedication of so many community residents. There is always something new to learn and appreciate at the museum!
