Third class, biggest yet, to be inducted into the BKW Hall Of Fame

To the Editor:

Friday night, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Athletic Hall of Fame will induct its third class. This will be the largest class to date.

Heading the list of inductees this year will be the 1971 boys’ basketball Section 2 Class D championship team, the last sectional championship for coach Ray “Pete” Shaul.

Also inducted will be the 1981 boys’ baseball team, which compiled a record of 23-0 on its way to a Schoharie County League Championship.

Individuals to be inducted are Bill Hayden; Pete Bassler; Jim Swint; Kim Hoagland; Janice Slingerland; and 27-year physical-education teacher and coach of six girls’ volleyball championships and eight girls’ softball championships, Cathy Allen.

We welcome and encourage fans, players, coaches, and staff of BKW, past and present, to stop by and help honor these inductees.

Dennis Barber, chairman

BKW Athletic Hall of Fame Committee
