Feel what it’s like to soar

To the Editor:

The Berne Historical Society will be hosting flying adventures in the skies at its next meeting — “Soaring with the Eagles, Floating with the Clouds.” Presenter Steve Draisey, an eight-year hang-gliding veteran, is a licensed and insured hang-gliding pilot. Teaching the sport was added to his profile a couple years ago.

With thousands of hours in the sky, covering many miles, Draisey approaches each flight with eyes on safety and the wonder of the moment. How far will he go? How long will he be afloat? One of his longest flight times is five hours, traveling 25 miles in distance.

All are invited to join us on Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Berne Library’s Community room. Feel what it’s like to soar. See the equipment involved to take flight. Refreshments are part of the deal.
