If Stewart’s redesigned, all sides could win

To the Editor:

Let's work together!

A new Stewart’s in Altamont is not the issue. All sides agree that Stewart’s is an asset to the community.

The issue with many is that the new Stewart’s as planned does not work for the community.

Perhaps Stewart’s should rethink its proposal.

I would suggest a redesign of the building they’ve done it in several other communities, so why not here?

Stewart’s has the required space to do a redesign, keep the house that exists, repurpose it to storage, office or residential use. This could be done while it builds a new more appropriate in design and then remove the existing building.

All sides win, no tear-down, a new Stewarts’ that respects the wishes of  many in the village, amd a new and larger Stewart’sthat benefits all of us.

Stewart’s signage and products define the store — not its building.

So let;s help both sides of the issue have a win!
