CCE offers free back-to-school workshop for parents

ALBANY COUNTY — Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a new parent-education workshop: Managing the 2020-21 School Year for Remote or In-Person Learners.

The workshop, hosted by the Watervliet Public Library via Google Meet, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from either 1 to 2 p.m. for from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County for this virtual program to help parents/caregivers manage the impact of COVID-19 on the 2020-21 school year.

“Parents and schools have the same goal — to help children learn,” says a release on the workshop. “Whether your child is attending school in-person, remotely or within a hybrid model, join with other parents/caregivers to learn strategies, discuss concerns, and share ideas on how to best build school partnerships and support our children at home and in the classroom (even if virtual).

“We will also share strategies to help children manage stress and develop resilience, self-respect, and a positive self-image — their armor against the challenges of the world.”

Advance registration is helpful, but not required with the Watervliet Public Library at 518-274-4471 or , or with CCE Albany at 518-598-9937 or email mkd59@cornell.edu
