BETHLEHEM — Two teens, stealing from a supermarket, police say, fled and crashed into a marked Bethlehem police car.
Police arrested Bishop A. Fraser and Jaquan D. Johnson — both 19-year-old Albany residents.

Events on Wednesday, Aug. 24, unfolded this way, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police Department: At about 2:18 p.m., police responded to a larceny in progress at the Price Chopper at 329 Glenmont Road. As officers arrived, two suspects fled the store on foot, getting into a Toyota Camry.

As officers approached, the driver, Fraser, accelerated toward them, crashing into the police car and almost hitting one of the officers. Then, as police tried to stop the car, the driver recklessly sped away; the abandoned car was found a short time later in Albany.

Fraser was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies, and with three misdemeanors — unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, and fifth-degree conspiracy — as well as numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Johnson was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and with fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.

Fraser is being held at Albany County’s jail and Johnson was released under the supervision of Albany County Probation.
