Grange seeks items to sell, give to veterans

To the Editor:

If you are looking to downsize your possessions, if you are moving, or if you are doing fall cleaning, think of donating your usable items that are in good condition, to the Bethlehem Grange for garage sale on two weekends: Sept. 7 and 8 and September 14 and 15. All proceeds go toward the maintenance of our historic Grange hall and our community service projects.

We are looking for women’s, men’s, babies’, and children’s clothing in good, wearable condition. We are also looking for vinyl records, wood furniture, tools, toys for all ages, bikes, craft items, yarn, fabric, housewares, collectibles, antiques, holiday items, linens, jewelry, dishes, glassware, pots and pans in good condition, books, games, puzzles (with all of the pieces), blankets, afghans, quilts, and so much more.

We are taking donations. Call one of us to arrange delivery: Myself, Carol Carpenter at  518-438-8862 or 518-421-1384, or Caroline Wirth at 518-424-4953, or Vernon Starr at 518-567-4294. Pick-ups may be available on a very limited basis.

Please do not just drop off items. Many donations have been ruined in the past, due to sitting out in the rain and elements.

We are also collecting personal care items for the veterans in need for the Northeast Region of the National Grange’s 152nd annual Convention Community Service project, and everyone’s help is needed.   All of the items collected from Grangers, from across the nation, will be distributed to our Northeast states — including New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts — and donated to male and female veterans of all ages in need.

Items to include, but not limited to, are: bar soap, body wash, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, lotion, shaving cream and razors, combs, denture tablets, feminine hygiene products and napkins, wet wipes, incontinence pads, tissues, and lip balms.

Travel-size products are encouraged, but any size is appreciated! The Bethlehem Grange needs your help in collecting these items to support our veterans in need.

Please bring your donations to our garage sale or, if you are donating items to our sale, feel free to bring them with you, when you deliver your donations!  If you have any questions, call any of the three people listed above.
