Juvenile charged for painting racial slurs

GUILDERLAND — A group of youths were spray-painting racial slurs on a Western Avenue sidewalk near Venezio Avenue last Sunday evening, Aug. 25, according to a release from the Guilderland Police.

A call came in just before eight o’clock and officers soon “located a group of juveniles within the vicinity of the graffiti,” the release said.

An unnamed 14-year-old from Albany was charged at the scene with two misdemeanors and released on a juvenile appearance ticket.

“The juveniles involved were released to an adult. Efforts are being made to remove the graffiti,” the release said.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 518-356-1501.
