These local students have recently distinguished themselves:

— Lucas Dyer, of Delmar, will study abroad during Union College’s fall term. Dyer is traveling to Osaka, Japan, studying the Japanese language and culture at Kansai-Gaidai University. Dyer is a member of the Class of 2018 majoring in biology;

— Samantha L. Longton of Voorheesville has received a transfer achievement scholarship as a new transfer student at the State University of New York College at Oswego.

Longton reserved a place for fall 2016 at Oswego, majoring in broadcasting and mass communication. She last studied at Hudson Valley Community College;

— Kevin A. Blair of Guilderland, majoring in accounting, last attended Guilderland High School received a Dean’s Award — $6,000 over four years — from the State University of New York College at Oswego;

— Keif Manuel of Slingerlands, last attended Albany Academies, — $6,000 over four years — from the State University of New York College at Oswego;
