Glen D. Carl

NEW SCOTLAND — Glen D. Carl, who worked at the New Salem garage and was a familiar helper at the hamlet’s famous fair, died on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at his New Scotland home.

He was the son of the late Dewitt and Hazel Carl of New Salem.

Mr. Carl graduated from Voorheesville’s high school and worked for many years at New Salem Garage in New Salem. He was a member of New Salem Fire Department for over 30 years.

“He was very proud of his service to the community and enjoyed working at the Punkintown Fair each year,” his family wrote in a tribute. “Glen enjoyed listening to music and watching television.”

Glen D. Carl is survived by his son, Justin M. Carl, of Poughkeepsie, New York; by his sister, Pauline Grippin, and her husband, Gerald, of Delmar; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His parents died before him as did his sister, Arlene Lendrum, and her husband, Harold, and his brother, Frederick Carl, and his wife, Sandra.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, at 3:00 p.m. in South Berne Rural Cemetery on Watertrough Road in Berne.
