Library book sale is a three-day extravaganza

To the Editor:

With hints of autumn air sneaking in, anticipation of fun fall events begin. For those in this area that means we are just a few weeks away from the Friends of the Voorheesville Library’s biggest event — the Annual Book Sale. This three-day extravaganza is quite popular with community members of all ages.

Each year our inventory of books and media grows and one never really knows what treasures can be found until they browse the shelves, tables, and boxes. This collection includes a much larger variety than we have been able to offer through our open hours at Encore!Books during the spring and summer months.

Many boxes of books and media that have been in storage will join the thousands of books that have been available since May. There is sure to be something for everyone!

A Themed Basket Raffle with books and other related goodies will be offered. Also, a Pick Your Own Prize Raffle will feature two beautiful quilts, donated by Nimblefingers and The Village Quilters, and two paintings, donated by Susie Flansburg.

Of course, Saturday brings our delicious bake sale. Live music will entertain us at various times. Again this year, the multitalented members of Nimblefingers will be present offering their various kinds of needlework.  With so much to offer, you will not want to miss this year.

There is always a warm welcome for anyone who would like to join in as a volunteer for the weekend.  You can work one shift, two shifts, or whatever you have the time and interest to offer.

Volunteers can be from middle-school age to senior citizens. There are many roles to fill from bakers to book sorters to bake sale “attendants” to box packers to check-out “clerks.”  Please do not be shy to contact me — at patmiller765@gmail.com —  should you desire to become involved.
