Helderberg Valley Football Team deserves our support
To the Editor:
While most are not willing to say “goodbye” to summer quite yet, the inevitable beginnings of the new school year, and football season, are nearly upon us.
Hoping to tap into the enthusiasm and excitement that last year’s local high school football brought us, and to again show our communities’ strong support for our Helderberg Valley Football Team (a program developed with players from both the Duanesburg and Berne-Knox-Westerlo school districts), please make plans to attend the following home games this fall:
— Saturday, Sept. 2, Fort Edward at BKW;
— Saturday, Sept. 9, Canajoharie at Duanesburg;
— Saturday, Oct. 7, Granville at BKW; and
— Saturday, Oct. 21, Greenwich at Duanesburg.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.; and there may be a chance that the Oct. 7 game could be played under the lights that evening.
The Duanesburg School District deserves our thanks and appreciation for developing a modern and incredibly-attractive track and field complex located behind its elementary school on Chadwick Road in Duanesburg, with the new gridiron beautifully laid out inside the track. The work appears to be nearly done at the complex, and the team looks forward to playing some home games at this new location this season.
Judging by the attendance and support seen at all of last season’s games, it is abundantly clear that our Helderberg Valley Football Team enjoys the full support of our communities of Berne, Duanesburg, Knox, and Westerlo. Let’s do what we can to show this season’s squad and its dedicated coaches even more support.
