Bethlehem Chamber sponsors trip to Iceland

BETHLEHEM — The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a week-long trip to Iceland in January. Chamber members, their families and friends, and travelers from the community are invited to join the trip to the volcanic island in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Average daytime January temperatures range from 28 to 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Iceland is small, about 39,000 square miles, approximately the size of Ohio. Iceland was one of the last places on Earth to be settled by humans, and 60 percent of the population lives in the country’s capital of Reykjavík.  A tour of the capital city is first on the trip agenda.

On the Golden Circle Tour, travelers will see tourist attractions, including Thingvellir National Park; several waterfalls; the Geysir Geothermal Area; and the Blue Lagoon, a natural pool of mineral-rich geothermal water; the village of Vik, surrounded by soaring cliffs; views of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier; and the Reynisdrangar rock formations.

The trip begins on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, and includes round trip airfare from New York City, five nights in hotels, daily breakfast, and tours. There are options for a Northern Lights Excursion and a three-day post-tour extension to Bergen, Norway.
