Costco would be a great addition to Guilderland

To the Editor:

As we navigate through the days of COVID-19 and how it has drastically changed the structure of the economy, we need to take a look at what will help us rebound in time.

That being said, growth and development in our town like the planned Costco near Crossgates should not be put on the back burner. Development that will bring a tremendous retailer that is well known as a good employer, a solid community partner, and a brand that the overwhelming majority of the Capital Region wants, should not be pushed away.

Costco would be a great addition to Guilderland and would be built on a perfect site in an area that was made for a project like this.

Saying no to this would be doing our town a disservice. The schools, us residents, the town and county will all benefit financially — this addition is something that any town would be extremely lucky to have.

I’m excited to see this project come to life, and, as a resident, I’m grateful for the time and effort that the boards within the town have put towards it. Hoping we can take those next steps needed and make it happen.
