Drug charge follows fatal crash

BETHLEHEM — A woman has been charged with driving while impaired by drugs after she drove over double yellow center lines and crashed into another car, killing that driver, according to Bethlehem Police.

Police responded to the two-car crash near 1463 River Road in Selkirk at about 5:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.

Preliminary investigation shows that Jacklyn M. Parker, age 24, of Troy was driving north on River Road when she crossed over the center lines, crashing into a car heading south, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.

That car was driven by Colleen M. Selkirk, age 60, of Hannacroix, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Parker and her passenger were transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Parker was charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs and a return date was set for Sept. 3, at 4 p.m. in Bethlehem Town Court.

The crash is still under investigation by members of the Bethlehem Police Department and the Albany County Crash Investigation Team and additional charges could be pending.
