To the Editor:

Encore! Books has been back open since May 2021! A few of the open days we felt as though we were in Kansas battling the wild winds and sudden downpours, but managed to hold down the fort in most cases.  

As an important fundraiser, Friends of the Voorheesville Library is eager to keep our doors open and delighted we can get books and media back into the hands of our patrons. The selection available is top-notch, and inventory is added to our shelves each week.

This year, we have an abundance of CDs and DVDs as well as books galore. Our large puzzle collection is a hit as well.

We are open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. although the schedule is subject to change. Come by, shop around, and leave with a few treasures.

COVID-19 protocols are fluid and follow the recommendations of the Voorheesville Public Library.  Presently, we request that you sign in, suggest you wear a mask (supplied by you), suggest the use of hand-sanitizer and request that you maintain social-distancing guidelines.

We have plenty of hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and sanitizing aerosol spray. We request that you bring your own gloves if you cannot use hand sanitizer or if you want that layer of protection.

Due to space constraints and limited availability to recycling, we need to place limitations on how many book and media donations we can accept at any one time. Therefore, we will limit each vehicle to two boxes and/or bags during any one visit.

This will only include those items that we are able to take in. We ask for your patience while we sort through what you have to bring to us.

Mark your calendar for our Big Fall Sale:

— Friday, Sept. 24, from noon to 7 p.m.; Members’ Day: Memberships available on site;

— Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Bake Sale and Raffles; and

— Sunday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.;  Special Deals Day with raffles pulled at 2 p.m.
