To the Editor:

I’d like to give a shout-out to my theater family, the Hilltowns Players. They started out 35 years ago with their first performance, “Li’L Abner,” and have been going strong ever since.

The Hilltowns Players present a musical play every fall and they have never turned anyone away — every auditioner from age 8 to 88 (give or take a few years) is welcomed into the cast.

And we truly become a most unique family — keeping in touch with each other long after the final curtain falls on closing night, through traveling shows in the spring, to picnics and swimming in the summer, and hayrides and bonfires in the fall.

As I said, we welcome everyone. You’re welcome to join us. Auditions for our fall musical, the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life!” are next week, Aug. 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. at the Thompsons Lake Reform Church, 1210 Thacher Park Rd. E, East Berne, NY 12059. Call (518) 872-9455 for more info.
