R’ville Dems to hold caucus for two town judges
RENSSELAERVILLE — Two town justices will be up for reelection in Rensselaerville this fall.
Despite 2018 being an off year for local politics, Judges Muriel Frasher and Ronald Bates will be running to keep their seats this year. They would serve four-year terms if elected.
According to Jeffry Pine, the town Democratic committee chairman, the two intend to run on the Democratic line this year. The town’s Democratic caucus will be held next week, said Pine, who is the caucus convener. Frasher and Bates could not be reached for comment before press time.
Frasher, a Conservative, was appointed this spring after Dwight Cooke resigned as a town justice. Bates, a Democrat, ran unopposed in 2014 for a four-year term after Timothy Miller decided not to seek another term.
Bates is a retired Albany County Sheriff’s deputy. Frasher is retired from the New York State Office of Mental Health’s fiscal division, where she oversaw a variety of health programs from a financial viewpoint.
The caucus will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Medusa firehouse on Route 351 in Rensselaerville.
