Chamber eases back into networking — and fun

To the Editor:
The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce is easing back into networking events on a more regular basis, but with still enough fun that you can’t call it working.

The Women in Business Series has started with an informal, free, pop-in style meeting at Tara Kitchen on Western Avenue. The first is Aug. 17 and the second is Sept. 21 — both at 5:30 p.m. Monthly speakers on a range of topics related to being a woman in the business world are sure to make you feel motivated and among friends.

There is a Sept. 13 mixer at 110 Grill at Crossgates, a hotspot with a huge patio, bar offerings featuring house-made fruit simple syrups, basil, thyme and more, and the best certified allergy-free menu in the area.

The chamber’s traditional mixers were after work in business suits, but we are starting now at 5 p.m., and encouraging business casual attire and stopping in for a quick drink and meeting one to two key people, as opposed to two more hours of straight networking.

There will be only one event per month, until the chamber can gauge how the audience will receive the new additions.

Add in a few ribbon-cuttings and the result is a full schedule. The Guilderland Food Pantry is celebrating its remodel with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in Charles Park.

A new store to open in Crossgates invites everyone to come check it out on Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.. The store, Her Love Vendor Company, is a new business model we have been seeing, where several artisan vendors share one location.

Also coming soon will be the Dunkin Donuts/Phillips Minimart ribbon-cutting. Pro tip: Ribbon-cuttings are a great way to meet the owners of a store before they get too busy!
