Thanks for helping those with special needs ride horses

To the Editor:

The Fox Creek 5K, the first leg of the Hilltown Triple Crown, started in Berne on Saturday morning with a blast — from a shotgun wielded by New York State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara.  Proceeds from this 5K benefit Life Enhancement through Activities and Programs (LEAP), a not-for-profit organization that provides scholarship funding for children, young adults, and veterans with special needs toward participation in equine-assisted therapies.

LEAP would like to thank its contributing sponsors, Capital Care Medical Group – Family Medicine Berne for providing the race T-shirts; Honest Weight; Rite Aid; Countryside Mobil; Tops; Cotton Wood Creek Veterinary; Stewart’s Shops; Ruby’s Hair Salon; Pleasant Valley Gallery; Price Chopper; Hannaford; Maple on the Lake; and Fox Creek Market for supplying fruit, snacks, water, supplies, and raffle items; Traditional Strings for providing music before and after the race; the Berne Fire Police; Helderberg Ambulance; and the Albany County Sheriff’s Department for its emergency support and services; and LEAP volunteers, all of whom make an event like this possible.
