Town of Berne – Request for Bids – WWTP Effluent Disinfection Project
Sealed bids will be received by the Town of Berne until 10:00 AM on August 27, 2025 at the Town of Berne Town Hall, 1656 Helderberg Trail (NYS Route 443), Berne, New York 12023. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud for the Effluent Disinfection Project at 10:00 AM on August 27, 2025.  
Work of Contract No. 1 – General Construction includes all tools, labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct a pre-cast concrete contact basin along the existing wastewater treatment plant effluent pipe, furnish chemical feed equipment and treatment plant miscellaneous equipment, install underground electrical conduits, and install miscellaneous drainage piping.    
Digital copies of the Bidding and Contract Documents may be obtained from Lamont Engineers, P.C. at 197 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 between normal business hours or by email at , or by calling (518) 234-4028 Ext. 101. Requests for hard copies for the bid and contract documents will be honored through a third-party reproduction company at the bidder’s expense.

The Town Board of the Town of Berne reserves the right to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received and to reject any or all bids without explanation.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for August 14, 2025 @ 9:00 AM. Prospective bidders are encouraged to attend.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes approximately 155 acres of impacts to Vly Creek Reservoir, an undesignated regulated freshwater wetland, to allow the application of a NYS Registered Pesticide for the management of nuisance aquatic organisms. The area targeted for control is specified in the approved plans and is proposed to facilitate use of the waterbody as a drinking water supply.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE the Town of Westerlo Planning/ Zoning Board will be holding three (3) Public Hearings on August 25, 2025 at 7pm at the Richard Rapp Municipal Building located at 933 CR 401 in Westerlo. The first public hearing will be for the Westerlo Public Library V-25-7.  Applicant is seeing relief of 23 feet of the required 30-foot side set back as per zoning section 8.50 (4) b.  This variance is requested by the applicant to allow them to place a non-residential 8’x10’ storage shed 7 feet from the east property side line.  SBL# 139.9-2-9.20 located at 604 SR 143 Westerlo.  The second public hearing will be for Bungay V-25-8. Applicant is seeking relief of 33 feet of the required 50- foot side set back as per zoning section 8.50 (4) a. This variance is requested by the applicant to allow a 40’x40’ garage to be placed 17 feet from the north property side line.  SBL# 150.-2-31 located at 339 CR 402 Westerlo.  The third public hearing will be for Shepard Farm LLC (Dolce) SUP 25-3. Applicant is applying for a special use permit for a medical use as per zoning code section 8.40 (3) I.  A special use permit was granted in June 2024 for this site and building for a commercial use (powder coating work shop and sale office) that use is no longer active.
